We
are proposing expanding the East Texas Oil Museum.
For over 25 years, the East Texas Oil Museum in Kilgore has been
an extraordinary touchstone for students and scholars, regularly
hosting some 50,000 visitors a year. It’s an astonishing exhibition
of a 1930s boomtown, which served to inspire the creators of Disney’s
Epcot Center. While the museum effectively captures the history
of the oil industry, we need to expand its vision to capture the
present day and the future of the energy industry, making it more
viable and relative to the issues facing both the industry and consumers
today.
